One of the world's most inspiring film festivals is back for 2024, as the Banff Mountain Film Festival tours North America. A showcase of breathtaking new films based around all things mountainous, whether it's alpine environments and wildlife, expeditions and adventure, mountain sports, the cultural richness of mountain communities and more, the annual event is a celebration of the mountains of the world and the filmmakers charting some of our earth's wildest, most epic places.

The films shown vary by location, but some of those on offer this year will include pieces following scientists and rangers in their quests to save glaciers, boreal forests or mountain ecosystems from disappearing forever; rock climbers, kayakers and mountain bikers preparing for their most daring feats yet; the exploration of the musical traditions of mountain communities, and tales of friendship in the lofty peaks.
